What To Bring

What To Bring

We ask that patients keep approximately 3-4 changes of clothing while on the unit. Comfortable clothing is suggested, and laundry facilities are available. Although we do have basic hygiene items available for patients, you are able to bring basic toiletries to the facility. Some items may be kept locked in a personal bin and given to you when needed. Other items may be returned home if unacceptable for the unit. We are always concerned about patient safety and consequently must limit access of certain items to the unit.

Hygiene & Clothing

When you arrive on the unit, your personal belongings will be checked in by a mental health tech. You will be allowed to keep your clothing in your room. The following list of clothing is suggested:

  • You will need to wear socks, and shoes cannot have shoelaces due to safety.
  • Shorts are to be at least fingertip length (were your finger tips touch your legs).
  • You are requested to wear appropriate undergarments.
  • You are requested to wear pajamas (or shorts and a T-shirt) at bedtime.
  • Pants must be able to stay up without use of a belt.
  • Shirts shall be long enough that when arms are raised the shirt covers the stomach.
  • Hats are not to be worn in the building, and this includes bandanas.
  • No Jewelry may be worn. This includes any piercing, which must be removed for safety.
